It didn’t work out…

No, unfortunately, it didn’t.

Today is Monday 14th March 2011 and it’s the day I withdrew from University. Ok that was a little dramatic but it’s true. After two years of being sure I wanted to do engineering, something has happened. I realised that it was a substitute.

It was not a wasted year – absolutely by no means. I learnt a massive amount about electronics, engineering, manufacturing and industry and i absolutely love learning but the one thing I learnt the most is that I love web design. Absolutely love it. It makes me fall head over heals. I don’t feel that way about engineering (as I thought I would) and so it makes no sense to continue my HND in electronic engineering. I will do what I can to ensure that I get to do web design for the rest of my life.

Freelance or job?

Voltronik is doing well but it has a flaw. It is not social enough. Sure I get to visit new people and meet potential clients and I get to talk to existing or previous clients about stuff all of the time but it’s a job done on my own with no face-to-face contact. I consider myself to be social and like to be sociable and so want to work with other people. To work with other, like minded, web-enthusiastic people would be a dream and so am currently in pursuit of this.

I hope it all goes right. I know by now to trust myself and my decisions because it is extremely rare that I make bad ones and I know this decision to make web design my career is genuinely the best one I ever made.

I’m looking forward to being 24 this month. I think it will be a good year.
